Early Years Entitlement Funding (EYE) Universal hours for 3 & 4 year olds.
Rainbow has chosen to operate the EYE funding using the stretched offer, this enables
parents to use their funding all year rather than just during term time.
Children become eligible for EYE the term after their 3rd birthday, they are entitled to
570 hours per year. As Rainbow is open for 51 weeks per year this works out at 570/51
giving an entitlement of 11 funded hours per week, if the child attends for more than 11
hours per week the parents are liable for the fees for these extra hours @ £5.30 per hour.
Early Years Entitlement Funding (EYE) Additional hours.
From September 2017 working parents of 3 & 4 year olds may be entitled to an additional
570 EYE hours per year if they meet the criteria. Please log on to the Childcare Choices
website to register: https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk
These hours will also be stretched over the 51 weeks and works out at 22 hrs per week
If the child attends for more than 22 hours per week, the parents are liable for these
extra hours @ £5.45 per hour.
The Grace Period for the Additional hours * Taken from the SCC website *
The government has introduced a “grace period” to enable parents to retain their
childcare place for a short period should they become ineligible for the extended
entitlement (30 hours funded childcare offer).
This will allow continuity for the child and also give the parent sometime to regain
employment. Early years and childcare providers can also be assured that if they
offer the extended entitlement they will not run the risk of having an empty place
immediately should the parents circumstances change.
A child will enter “the grace period” when the child’s parents cease to meet the
eligibility criteria to receive the extended entitlement. Somerset County Council will
notify providers when a parent falls out of eligibility and inform them of the grace
period end date.
The table below shows the grace period end dates
